inZOI Developers Fix Disturbing Bug in Latest Patch

As part of ongoing updates to *inZOI*, Krafton has officially patched a bug that enabled players to hit and kill child characters with vehicles. The issue came to light when a Reddit user posted footage from the game on March 28, showing a character driving a car into a child NPC, causing them to ragdoll violently before dying. The post, titled "I don't think that Krafton realizes that you can run over children in inZOI," quickly gained attention for highlighting an unintended—and inappropriate—aspect of the simulation.

While the developers had previously confirmed that Zois (in-game characters) could die from being struck by vehicles, they did not indicate that this applied to children as well. In response to the backlash, a Krafton spokesperson issued a statement on March 28 to Eurogamer, clarifying that this was not an intentional feature and that it had been removed in the latest update.

"These depictions are highly inappropriate and do not reflect the intent and values of inZOI. We understand the seriousness of this matter and age-appropriate content and we are strengthening our internal review processes to prevent similar incidents in the future."

This change comes as an important adjustment, especially considering *inZOI* holds an ESRB rating of T for Teen. Maintaining appropriate content is crucial for preserving the game’s intended audience and overall tone.

Game Director Reflects on Challenges of Hyper-Realism

inZOI currently maintains a “Very Positive” user review score on Steam, largely due to its visually rich world and immersive simulation mechanics. However, Game Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim recently admitted that the game’s hyper-realistic art style poses unique challenges when trying to include more playful or humorous interactions within the game world.

In an interview with PCGamesN on March 31, Kjun explained how the team wrestled with the idea of incorporating lighter, comedic elements but found them difficult to blend with the game’s grounded aesthetic:

"This was something we thought about a lot. With such realistic graphics, we constantly questioned how far we should take that realism. At times, we wanted to incorporate comical or lighthearted elements, but they didn’t quite fit with the grounded visuals, which was a bit disappointing sometimes."

Kjun also noted that while the team admires games like *The Sims 4* for their whimsical charm, replicating that kind of humor within *inZOI’s* realistic framework proved challenging. Despite these limitations, he remains confident in the direction the game is taking:

"We believe this level of immersive graphics will resonate with players and, throughout development, we’ve felt both proud and excited to bring this world to life."

Although *inZOI* currently surpasses many life-sim titles—including *The Sims 4*—in visual fidelity and detail, the developers continue to refine the game’s identity. Their goal is to establish it as a strong contender in the genre while maintaining the serious, grounded tone that defines its current experience.
