The primary goal in Tute Cabrero is to accumulate either the highest or lowest number of points, depending on the agreed-upon rules—either "go to more" or "go to less." The hierarchy of the cards, from highest to lowest, is as follows: Ace (valued at 11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), and then 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2 (which carry no points). The first card played in each trick sets the suit for that round. Players are required to follow suit if possible; if they can't, they may play any card. The trump suit always triumphs in any trick, and if no trump is played, the highest card of the leading suit wins.
