Marvel Rivals' First Ever PvE Mode Is Based on the Marvel Zombies Disney+ Show

Marvel Rivals launches its inaugural PvE experience on October 23, 2025, drawing inspiration from the Marvel Zombies Disney+ series.

"The city is ablaze, the infected are surging — and it's your mission to stand firm," the developers hinted. "Get an early look now, and stay tuned for the official trailer arriving soon!"

In the accompanying video, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, joined Marvel Games' executive producer Danny Koo to reveal that Marvel Rivals is collaborating with Marvel Animation "to deliver our first-ever PvE mode: Zombie Mode."

Inspired by the Marvel Zombies storyline, this mode lets players control Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff, and the Punisher as they face "endless waves of zombies." Players must survive the onslaught and battle bosses Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead "toe-to-toe."

"We've also equipped each hero with distinct abilities," Koo noted. "Charge through the hordes as Jeff, slice and dice with Blade's bouncing Moon Blades, shock zombies with Thor in his persistent Awakened state, or go berserk as Magik in her unlimited Darkchild form. Showcase your epic combat skills against the zombie swarms and tough bosses!"

This mode arrives just in time for the spooky season on October 23, available on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.

Meanwhile, Marvel Zombies recently premiered on Disney+. IGN's full season review of Marvel Zombies awarded it an 8/10, stating: "Marvel Zombies may be formulaic at times, but the series succeeds by giving us exactly what the MCU hasn’t in recent years."
