Gameplay Overview

Players guide Josef, a charming dome-headed robot tossed into a scrapyard at the story's beginning. After reconstructing himself, he embarks toward Machinarium – a legendary robotic metropolis brimming with eccentric mechanical residents.

Josef soon uncovers the sinister Black Cap Brotherhood's conspiracy and gets falsely imprisoned. His simple jailbreak transforms into an epic mission to liberate the city's leader, save his sweetheart Berta, and thwart the Brotherhood's evil schemes.

The gameplay cleverly mixes brain-teasing puzzles, logic obstacles, mini-games, and unconventional objectives like crafting Josef a new hat. Communication occurs entirely through expressive thought bubbles and animations rather than spoken dialogue.
