In Monster Hunter Wilds, Every Weapon Has Its Own Unique Design - IGN First

by Eric Feb 21,2025

Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter: World prompted questions regarding Monster Hunter Wilds. While initial reveals offered limited insight, Director Yuya Tokuda has clarified the design philosophy.

Tokuda stated that unlike Monster Hunter: World, where weapon designs largely maintained a base form with variations based on materials, Wilds features uniquely designed weapons. This directly addresses concerns about repetitive designs. While some World weapons evolved into unique forms through upgrades, many remained visually similar. The image below illustrates this, showcasing the striking resemblance between the final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords. These represent the most upgraded versions from the game's initial release.
