Ned Luke, the voice behind GTA 5's Michael De Santa, shared his high expectations for GTA 6 in an interview with the YouTube channel Fall Damage. He predicts that GTA 6 will rake in a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day. Luke emphasized the unpredictability and innovation that Rockstar Games brings to each title, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He pointed out that GTA 5 earned over $800 million in its first 24 hours back in 2013, suggesting that GTA 6 could surpass these figures significantly.

DFC Intelligence, a research company, projects that GTA 6 will sell over 40 million copies and generate $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion coming solely from pre-orders.

The Future Of GTA 5 Characters In GTA 6

Luke also discussed the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin, who have made appearances. Luke hinted at the possibility of Michael returning in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even in GTA 6. Steven Ogg, who voiced Trevor, expressed to ScreenRant in January 2025 his ideal scenario for Trevor in GTA 6, suggesting a dramatic "passing the torch" moment by having Trevor killed early on.

Luke added, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the enthusiasm from both actors, no official word has been released on whether these characters will feature in GTA 6.

GTA 6 May Be At Its Testing Phase

Former Rockstar Games Animator Mike York suggests that GTA 6 is currently in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, as reported by GamesRadar, York highlighted the unique nature of GTA 6, describing it as unlike any other open-world game due to its unpredictability. "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't," he explained.

York believes that the game is still being polished with additional features and extras. He speculates that GTA 6 is at least playable at this stage and that numerous testers may have already gone through it.

Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023, but has since kept details under wraps. Reports suggest a Fall 2025 release based on Take-Two Interactive’s Financial Report in 2024, though no official release date has been confirmed.
