It and Annabelle writer-producer Gary Dauberman is preparing to bring Bloober Team’s The Medium to theaters.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dauberman has acquired the screen rights to Bloober's gripping horror title, though a director and screenwriter have not yet been revealed.

“The Medium’s compelling narrative and stunningly cinematic visuals make it an ideal candidate for a feature film adaptation,” Dauberman stated.

“During my initial discussion with CEO Piotr Babieno, we instantly bonded over our shared passion for horror and his vision for the genre's future. I am confident that Bloober Team will continue to advance horror in unique and chilling ways, and I look forward to collaborating closely with them.”

Babieno commented: “Adapting video games into films often requires balancing numerous interests, but with The Medium, I feel Gary is our ideal partner. From our first meeting, we were perfectly aligned, and every subsequent conversation has only strengthened that connection.”

The Medium is a psychological horror experience driven by tension, centered on the idea that perspective shapes perception. IGN awarded The Medium an 8/10, praising it as “a brilliantly paced and palpably tense adventure that delivers pure thriller thrills without any filler.”

Bloober Team acknowledged the need to "evolve" following the release of The Medium, a shift that paved the way for larger projects like the Silent Hill 2 remake and the forthcoming Cronos: The New Dawn.

Cronos director Jacek Zieba previously told IGN that The Medium marked a pivotal moment for the studio as it aimed to create more ambitious games. “It became clear after The Medium that we needed to move forward,” Zieba explained. “We decided to close the chapter on our adventure games—Layers of Fear, Observer, and The Medium were all strange, experimental titles with fixed cameras. Now, let’s finish that era.”

For those struggling to keep track—and understandably so—in recent weeks alone, news has emerged about another Friday the 13th game, serving as a prequel, alongside a film adaptation of Kinetic Games’ eerie ghost-hunting title, Phasmophobia.
