REPO's developer, Semiwork, is set to refine the game's difficulty scaling by introducing new mechanics at every 10 levels. Dive into the details of the upcoming changes to the Overcharge mechanic and discover what the developers have been working on during the game's open beta.

REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

During REPO's recent open beta, the developers at Semiwork gathered crucial feedback on various game mechanics, particularly focusing on the Overcharge feature. Overcharge empowers players to counter foes by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this ability is regulated by an overcharge meter; once filled, it causes the player to explode.

Originally accessible from the game's outset, Overcharge will now be unlocked at level 10. As part of the game's progressive difficulty scaling, new mechanics will be introduced at levels 20, 30, and beyond, with Overcharge marking the beginning of these challenges.

These mechanics are intricately linked to REPO's lore. According to Semiwork, "This system will also be tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this, and we will share more details in the future."

Throughout the open beta, Semiwork's developers immersed themselves in the community by joining random matches. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer at Semiwork, expressed his joy at witnessing players enjoying the new features. He shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the invaluable feedback from the community during the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates as the developers promise to reveal further details soon. To keep up with the latest news on R.E.P.O., check out our article below!
