Mahjong School is your platform for learning how to play Mahjong. We specialize in teaching Japanese-style Mahjong, which is nearly identical to the European (Riichi) and US styles. While it differs slightly from Chinese, Hong Kong, or Taiwan styles, mastering Japanese Mahjong makes it easy to adapt to other variations.

Mahjong School offers three methods to help you learn Japanese Mahjong.

1 The Mahjong Calculator.

Add tiles to your hand or declare TING, CHOW, PON, or CHI to form a winning hand. Configure various conditions like DORA and self-draw. Once set, the calculator computes your hand's Fu and points, complete with hand names and detailed explanations.

2 The Simplified Tutorial.

This tutorial provides a complete list of Han values, featuring example hands and descriptions for each.

3 Practice Mode.

Play Mahjong directly against an AI. The AI is designed for beginners, offering a friendly environment for learners. Practice is the most effective way to improve your Mahjong skills.
