Arc Raiders Dev to End Support of The Finals' PS4 Version to Focus 'Our Support on Current Generation Hardware'

Embark Studios — the creative force behind the blockbuster hit Arc Raiders — has announced it will discontinue last-generation support for The Finals next year.

Although Season 10 is scheduled to launch as planned across all other platforms on March 18, 2026, the title will be retired from PS4—the sole last-gen console—at that time. This move allows the development team to "focus our support on current generation hardware."

Consequently, PS4 players will lose access to the free-to-play shooter just over a year after its December launch, which is one year later than PC and current-generation consoles. While some titles allow limited playtime on discontinued software, it appears that The Finals on PS4 will cease responding entirely by the deadline.

"From that point on you'll need to play [on current gen systems] to keep enjoying the game. Your progress and purchases will be stored in your Embark ID and will transfer to anywhere you choose to play," Embark wrote on social media.

"We're incredibly grateful to everyone who's been part of the PS4 community. See you in the Arena!"

We thoroughly enjoyed The Finals, awarding it 8/10, and have also had a great time with the studio’s latest release, Arc Raiders, which earned an 'Amazing' 9/10. Notably, Arc Raiders did not launch on PS4.

Despite some controversy surrounding its use of AI, Arc Raiders sold more than 4 million copies worldwide within just two weeks of release, solidifying its commercial success. Nexon also announced that this extraction shooter hit a massive concurrent player count of 700,000 across all platforms. Its first major update, North Line, is now available.
