YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared in a video titled 'A Bad Month' that he had been working on an animated show based on the critically acclaimed survival horror science fiction game, Soma. Developed by Frictional Games, the creators of Amnesia, Soma was released in 2015 and has been a favorite of Jacksepticeye's, who streamed it extensively and often cites it as one of the best video games he's ever played.

In the video, Jacksepticeye discussed a challenging period creatively, with several projects either being canceled or not progressing as hoped. He revealed his excitement about the Soma animated show, which he had been planning for a year in collaboration with the game's developers. The project was poised to enter full production, and Jacksepticeye was eager to announce and share it with his fans. He even held off on playing the entire game in one video, anticipating the announcement of the show.

However, the project abruptly fell apart when an unnamed party decided to take it in a different direction, leaving Jacksepticeye "quite upset." He chose not to delve into specifics due to his frustration with how things unfolded. The cancellation has significantly impacted his plans for 2025, leaving him uncertain about his priorities and next steps.

"I had planned a lot of my year around it," Jacksepticeye explained, noting that he had intended to focus his efforts on the project, reducing his content uploads. The collapse of the project left him feeling that his year had been "flipped upside down," and he expressed frustration at having nothing to show after dedicating time and effort to it.

Following Soma, Frictional Games released two more Amnesia titles: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In July 2023, Frictional's creative director, Thomas Grip, mentioned the company's intention to shift focus from horror to explore other emotional qualities in their games, aiming to provide immersive experiences beyond just the horror genre.
