A Coastal Tale on the Continent

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep arrives on Netflix on February 11, 2025, according to Netflix Tudum. This animated film draws inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story, "A Little Sacrifice," featured in Sword of Destiny.

Set in a coastal village, the story explores an ancient feud between humans and merpeople, prompting a kingdom on the Continent to enlist a Witcher. Departing from classic foes like Basilisks, Geralt faces off against merpeople in this unique tale.

Doug Cockle returns to voice Geralt, joined by Joey Batey as Jaskier and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg. Christina Wren, known from Will Trent, voices a new character, Essi Daven.

Sapkowski, the Witcher novel author, acts as a creative consultant. The screenplay is penned by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, writers from the live-action series, with Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist from The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directing the film.

Set During The Witcher’s First Season

The film unfolds between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher’s debut season. In episode 5, Bottled Appetites, Geralt and Yennefer cross paths in Rinde, a Redanian city, after freeing a Djinn. Following their reunion, a kingdom hires Geralt to tackle a mysterious coastal threat.

Given Rinde’s proximity to the shores of Redania and Temeria, the story likely unfolds in this region. Drawing from A Little Sacrifice, the setting may be Bremervoord City in Temeria, led by Duke Agloval. Whether the film closely follows the original story remains to be seen.
