Report: WB Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy DLC

by Sarah Nov 17,2025

A paid downloadable content (DLC) for Hogwarts Legacy has been canceled unexpectedly, a recent Bloomberg report reveals.

Citing inside sources, Bloomberg notes that Warner Bros. had been developing a story-based expansion for the Harry Potter-themed adventure game Hogwarts Legacy. The DLC was reportedly slated to launch later this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the title.

However, Warner Bros. allegedly pulled the plug on the project this week. According to the report, the company felt the planned content did not warrant the intended pricing. Warner Bros. has declined to comment on the matter.

This decision aligns with a broader restructuring of Warner Bros.' video game division, which has faced financial pressures. Earlier in the year, the company canceled a Wonder Woman game and shuttered several studios, including Monolith Productions and WB San Diego. It also conducted layoffs at Rocksteady Studios last September.

Despite canceling the DLC, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of the Harry Potter franchise. The company has publicly stated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy remains a top priority as it focuses on major, established intellectual properties. The original game has surpassed 30 million copies sold worldwide.
