Originally launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, the game features legendary racehorses reborn as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters look like typical high school girls but possess the ears, tails, endurance, and speed of horses. They train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, aspiring to become renowned racers and idols.

The game's Steam page promises an immersive sports life simulation with an in-depth training system and top-notch 3D graphics. Players can scout and train over 20 different Uma Musumes using the game's gacha system, compete in races, and showcase stunning performances.

According to PocketGamer.biz's March 2025 report, the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby amassed over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its first year. With the upcoming English release, Cygames aims to achieve similar success on a global scale.
