Top Pokémon Card Gainers and Losers - May 9
Another week brings more shifts in the dynamic Pokémon single card market as trainers eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals. Fortunately, the Black Bolt and White Flare preorders from the Pokémon Center managed to dodge a bot attack this time around.
The most significant drop this week was Greninja ex 214/167, which has plummeted nearly 50% since the start of the year. We're also seeing price reductions across the Obsidian Flames and the elusive 151 expansions. On the flip side, Dragonite V from Evolving Skies has nearly doubled in value, a testament to its stunning artwork and undervalued status.
Charizard V Alt Art continues to impress with its depiction of a battle against Venusaur, gradually increasing in value. Meanwhile, Rayquazza VMAX Alt Art has soared, gaining an extra $100 since the year began. Let's dive into the week's biggest climbers and crashers in the Pokémon TCG market.
Pokémon Card Crashes

While Sword and Shield era cards are on the rise, Scarlet and Violet series cards are returning to more reasonable prices.
Alakazam ex SIR from 151 is a stunning card, now 34% cheaper than at the beginning of March. It's a must-have for any collection this year.
Bulbasaur was my first starter in Pokémon Blue, so the Bulbasaur IR holds a special place in my heart. It's seen a massive 52% drop since mid-March, making it an affordable gem to add to your collection.
In Obsidian Flames, Ninetales IR remains one of the set's highlights. With a 40% price drop since February, it's now available for a reasonable $18.17.

Despite any criticism of Obsidian Flames, the Charizard ex SIR with its stained glass Tera form is undeniably striking. It's only dropped $5 since March, but every dollar counts.
The biggest crasher this month is Greninja ex SIR, which was once poised to be the priciest Scarlet and Violet card. However, Prismatic Evolutions shifted the market dynamics. It's still a fantastic card at $275, but imagine paying $411.62 back in February.
Pokémon Card Climbers

Turning to this week's climbers, Rayquazza VMAX alt art remains a coveted card from the Sword and Shield era. Already over $500, it's now at $649.99 and shows no signs of slowing down. It could reach $1,000 in a few years, so grab one if you can.
Charizard V Alt Art captures a dynamic battle with Venusaur, earning an additional $40 since January. Its unique angle and motion make it stand out, and it's on track to surpass $200 before the year ends.

Dragonite V Alt Art from Evolving Skies is a fan favorite, showcasing the Pokémon's adorable yet fierce nature. Its value has nearly doubled since mid-January, now at a solid $225. Don't miss out on this gem before it climbs higher. Check out last week's article for more exciting cards.
Pokémon Card Sealed Boosters
For those dedicated to pulling chase cards, here's what's currently in stock. Be cautious of prices above MSRP; the market is unpredictable right now, so avoid overpaying.
