"TennoCon 2024 Unveils Warframe: 1999 Details"
This year's ninth TennoCon has been nothing short of spectacular, with thrilling announcements that have left fans buzzing. The much-anticipated update, Warframe: 1999, is set to launch in Winter 2024 and promises to be one of the most exciting updates in the series' history.
Kicking things off, a prologue quest titled "The Lotus Eaters" will be released in August 2024. This quest reunites players with one of Warframe's iconic characters and serves as a follow-up to Whispers in the Walls, introducing the world of 1999. Alongside this, Sevatgoth Prime and their exclusive weapons will be introduced. To dive into Warframe: 1999, players must complete all story content up to and including The Lotus Eaters, so make sure you're caught up before the winter release.
Set in the year 1999 on an alternate Earth, the update introduces Höllvania, a city plagued by the deadly Y2K virus known as Techrot. Players will navigate this 90s wonderland using new Atomicyles, vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even serving as makeshift explosives. Leading the charge are the Hex, a team of six heroes each donning a Protoframe, showcasing the human inside. Arthur, the leader, wields Excalibur, while allies like Aoi with Mag and Quincy with the newly introduced CYTE-09 join the fray. CYTE-09 will also be available in the Origin system, complete with a stylish beret.
The Hex team is brought to life by renowned voice actors including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler, known for her recent role in Baldur's Gate 3. Players can get to know these characters through a 1999-style instant messaging system, potentially leading to a New Year's kiss.
Adding to the 90s nostalgia, players will encounter On-lyne, a boy band led by Zeke, voiced by Nick Apostolides, who also voices Leon Kennedy. This band, corrupted by the Technocyte Coda, becomes an infected adversary. Despite their villainous turn, their hit single "Party of Your Lifetime" is now available on streaming platforms.
One of the standout features of this update is the enhancement to the fashion system, the true endgame for many players. You'll be able to switch between two fashion frame loadouts during battle, and the new Gemini Skins allow you to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin system. These skins are available for frames such as Excalibur and come with extensive voiced lines, adding depth to the characters and enhancing the overall experience.
Beyond the main event, Digital Extremes is collaborating with animation studio THE LINE to produce an anime short related to Warframe: 1999, set to launch this year. Additionally, starting today, players can acquire the stunning high-fidelity Heirloom skin for Ember, with a Rhino skin following in early 2025.
With Warframe: 1999 on the horizon for Winter 2024, there's plenty to look forward to and catch up on. Make sure to download Warframe now from the App Store to stay ahead of the game.
