Switch 2 Pre-Order Dates and Priority Details for U.S. and Canada Revealed
Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 were initially scheduled to launch globally on April 9. However, economic disruptions caused by Trump's tariffs prompted Nintendo to delay the pre-orders in the U.S., followed by a similar postponement in Canada. Despite these setbacks, pre-orders proceeded as planned in other regions, such as the UK.
In response to inquiries, Nintendo updated its FAQ section, revealing that the first round of invitations would begin rolling out on May 8, exclusively for the My Nintendo Store. Retail pre-orders remain unconfirmed at this time.
Additional waves of invitation emails will be dispatched periodically until the My Nintendo Store opens its doors to all customers, as noted by Nintendo.
The initial invites will prioritize eligible registrants based on meeting specific criteria, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Recipients will have 72 hours from receiving the email to finalize their purchase.
Eligibility Requirements for Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders:
- You must have purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- The membership must have been active for at least 12 consecutive months.
- You must agree to share gameplay data and accumulate a minimum of 50 hours of gameplay.
