Space Marine 2: Year Two Content and Large-Scale Anniversary Update Confirmed

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the only way a true Ultramarine would—by charging headfirst into battle with bolter fire blazing and Chaos in retreat. As the game marks one year of relentless combat, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed an expansive roadmap ahead, headlined by a major September update and a full second year of content support. Read on for all the details about what’s coming to the acclaimed co-op shooter.
Space Marine 2 Announces Major September Update and Year 2 Content Plans

As Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 approaches its first anniversary, the fight against the forces of Chaos is far from over. In fact, it’s just getting bigger. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have officially confirmed a "large-scale" update arriving in September, alongside a full Year 2 content plan that includes both free updates and premium DLC. This extended support ensures that players can continue their crusade well into 2026.
Originally, much of the content planned for Update 9 was set to launch earlier, but has now been shifted to Update 10 to allow for more refined development. As a result, Update 9 will focus primarily on balance improvements and optimizations, with the heavier features reserved for the anniversary update.
In a recent Steam community update, the developers announced: "We’re happy to reveal that a second year of both free and DLC content—available through a new yearly season pass—is officially coming!" Players can look forward to new PvE missions, additional enemy types, fresh weapons, new maps, a new playable class, and more.
While many specifics remain under wraps, the tease of “more” hints at significant additions on the horizon. Despite the official start of development on Space Marine 3, the team remains committed to delivering on their promise of ongoing support for Space Marine 2.

The centerpiece of the celebration is Update 10.0, scheduled for release in September. This update will bring the most substantial wave of new content since launch, including a highly anticipated PvP mode. Originally expected in the summer’s Update 9, this mode has been moved to September to ensure it meets quality expectations.
The new PvP mode breaks from tradition by pitting Chaos against Chaos in a dedicated new map—departing from the standard Loyalist vs. Chaos setup. Players will take control of Chaos Space Marines, including the ability to play as the devastating Helbrute, one of the game’s most fearsome boss enemies. Alongside new Chaos armor sets, players will also wield the Power Axe, complete with a unique moveset and execution animations. A work-in-progress model of the weapon has already been shared, building anticipation for its final form.
In addition, a new playable class is arriving: the Techmarine. While details are still limited, lore suggests this Adeptus Astartes specialist will serve as a battlefield engineer, potentially offering repair and support capabilities during combat. The Techmarine will be fully playable in both PvE and PvP modes, adding strategic depth to team-based gameplay.
More information about the Techmarine, the Chaos PvP mode, and the full scope of Update 10.0 is expected in community updates throughout July and August as the studio ramps up for the September launch.

Looking forward, Year 2 of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will follow the successful content model established in Year 1, blending free updates with premium DLC through a new season pass. This ensures both accessibility and expanded content for dedicated players.
While Update 9.0 doesn’t yet have a fixed release date, it is expected to arrive sometime this summer, focusing on gameplay balance and technical improvements. The spotlight will then shift to the major September update, where the full breadth of new features will debut.
