As one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally offer hands-on gameplay at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new playable version likely differs significantly from the 2019 E3 demo, which many considered more of a proof concept than a full preview.

ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition, running from September 18, 2025 to February 8, 2026, will showcase several major titles including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the Australian-developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors can experience exclusive custom builds while viewing original design materials, concept art, and iconic artifacts from these games.

In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their enthusiasm about featuring Silksong: "Since its 2019 announcement, Hollow Knight: Silksong has stood as one of the world's most anticipated indie games - we're delighted to highlight this South Australian creation as a centerpiece of our Game Worlds exhibition this September."

With minimal official information released since 2019, fans have relied on speculation and rumors about Silksong's development. The ACMI exhibition promises to end this information drought, offering new insights into the sequel.

The curators detailed the exhibition's coverage: "Our displays explore every aspect of Silksong's design - from the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and attacks to the framework behind its most demanding boss encounters. Visitors will also enjoy hands-on gameplay within the gallery."

While this Australian exhibition might hint at Silksong's launch timeframe, developers haven't confirmed an exact release date. Following its appearance in last month's Switch 2 Direct with a 2025 release window, fans remain hopeful for a September launch coinciding with the exhibition's start, or at least within its six-month duration.
