Konami: Silent Hill f Welcomes New Players, Series Fans Alike

by Patrick Dec 08,2025

Silent Hill f isn't connected to previous Silent Hill games as a sequel. Following the approach of Silent Hill 2, it presents a self-contained narrative that's "independent from the series." This clarification comes directly from publisher Konami, which confirmed via X/Twitter that the newest horror title—traditionally set in an eerie American coastal town—will instead be "a completely new experience" accessible even to those unfamiliar with the franchise. The series has this precedent. While Silent Hill 1, 3, and Origins share continuity, others like Silent Hill 2 stood alone, with The Room and Homecoming partially unfolding beyond the infamous town. Konami's announcement definitively states that appreciating Silent Hill f's 1960s Japan setting requires no prior knowledge of the 26-year-old franchise. PlayThe psychological horror transports players to 1960s Japan, where protagonist Shimizu Hinako battles societal pressures. The narrative was crafted by Ryukishi07 (When They Cry series), and as shown in March's Japanese reveal trailer, it marks the first Silent Hill title to receive Japan's restrictive 18+ rating. Currently in development, the age rating may adjust, though previous mainline games (Silent Hill 1-3 and The Room) carried CERO:C (15+) ratings in Japan, while overseas-developed entries typically earned CERO:C or D (17+). Silent Hill f carries equivalent mature ratings globally: M (US), PEGI 18 (Europe), and CERO:Z (Japan). No release date has been announced for Silent Hill f, nor has No Code shared updates about their mysterious Townfall project.
