Konami's Silent Hill f Earns First 18+ Rating in Franchise History

by Jacob Sep 23,2025

Silent Hill f marks the first Silent Hill title to receive an 18+ rating in Japan.

The Japanese reveal trailer, unveiled last night, confirms Silent Hill f is rated Mature in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.

While still in development, ratings may shift, but as noted by Automaton, Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room were rated CERO:C for ages 15+, with non-Japanese-developed titles typically at CERO:C or CERO:D (17+).

Even the Silent Hill 2 Remake by Bloober Team, a reimagining of the 2001 classic, secured a CERO:C rating in Japan, despite a 17+ rating in most Western regions.

Last night, Konami shared updates via a new Silent Hill Transmission, its horror franchise-focused online showcase. This edition centered entirely on Silent Hill f, the first mainline entry in the iconic series in 13 years.

Revealed in 2022, Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan, following Shimizu Hinako, a teenager grappling with pressures from friends, family, and society. The narrative is penned by Ryukishi07, known for the When They Cry visual novel series.

The trailer depicts Hinako in intense distress, bloodied, wounded, and with her school uniform torn. While focusing on cutscenes rather than gameplay, it offers a glimpse into Silent Hill f's eerie setting, unique monster designs, and a potential Otherworld filled with crimson flowers instead of rust and fans.

No release date for Silent Hill f has been announced, and no updates were provided on No Code's Silent Hill title, Townfall.
