ReFantazio: A Potential Gaming Franchise?

Responding to inquiries about future projects, Hashino expressed a strong interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, according to Hashino. His focus remains on completing the current project, a game he initially conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already actively pursuing their next project. The possibility of an anime adaptation, however, is being discussed. Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved remarkable success for Atlus, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961—significantly surpassing the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available across multiple platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
