Preorder GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080 Gaming PCs Now

by Riley May 14,2025

The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. You can find these cutting-edge systems listed at top retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo, starting today. This launch presents a prime opportunity for gamers to snag a fully equipped system with the newest generation of GPUs, especially since major manufacturers like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) won't release their versions until the end of the first quarter.

If you're in the market for a standalone GPU, you'll need to look elsewhere. Check out our comprehensive RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide to find out which retailers will have them in stock. Be prepared, though; launch-day stock is likely to sell out within hours or even minutes due to inventory shortages and the prevalence of bots that snap up GPUs to resell at inflated prices.

Dell has just launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs, available today in two configurations, both featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU. Starting at an impressive $4,449.99, don't expect immediate delivery; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis, while similar to the 2024 R16 model, features minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns along with updated components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel, enhancing the overall design. Air intakes are now located at the bottom and front, promoting a positive airflow design for a less dusty interior. The internal components, including the motherboard, RAM, and power supply, have been refreshed to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Several boutique retailers are now offering the option to customize systems with RTX 5090 and/or 5080 GPUs. You can find new RTX 50-series GPU configurations at iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm. While these built-to-order systems offer flexibility, be aware that they can be quite pricey and may not be the most cost-effective choice.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

Major OEMs like Dell, HP, and Lenovo will not integrate the new RTX 50-series GPUs into their prebuilt gaming desktops until later in the year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51, expected to feature Nvidia's new GPUs, with a launch anticipated later in the first quarter. HP plans to offer the RTX 5090 and 5080 in its flagship Omen 45L, possibly in mid or late February. Lenovo has not yet announced when it will begin incorporating these GPUs into its Legion Tower gaming desktops.

Our RTX 5090 FE and 5080 FE Reviews Are Live

The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially unveiled at CES 2025, focusing on enhanced AI features rather than traditional raster performance improvements. The new DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual impact. While these GPUs offer a modest performance boost, opinions vary on their value compared to the RTX 40-series.

In our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with a less significant leap than previous generations. In terms of traditional non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 shows one of the smallest generational uplifts in recent memory. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 delivers substantial performance gains – although 75% of the frames are generated by AI."

Play

In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offers a similar perspective. "For those with high-end graphics cards from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be worth the upgrade – it doesn't significantly outperform the RTX 4080, though DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation does enhance gameplay in supported titles. However, if you're using an older graphics card and seeking a substantial performance boost, the RTX 5080 delivers, especially if you're open to Nvidia's AI enhancements."
