Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for its highly anticipated crossplay update scheduled for late March 2025.

Through an X/Twitter post, Pocketpair confirmed this update will enable multiplayer connectivity across all platforms while introducing Pal world transfers. While few additional details were shared, promotional artwork depicts multiple Palworld characters battling an oversized Pal.

Pocketpair Communications Director John 'Bucky' Buckley hinted at "a few little surprises" accompanying the March release.

The update arrives as welcome news for Palworld's 32 million players since its January 2024 early access debut. Studio plans reveal an extensive 2025 roadmap including not just crossplay functionality, but also an "ending scenario" and additional new content for the record-breaking creature-collection survival title.

Initially launching at $30 on Steam while simultaneously debuting on Xbox/PC Game Pass, Palworld shattered sales records and concurrent player counts upon release last year. Studio head Takuro Mizobe acknowledged the overwhelming success, admitting initial difficulty managing the game's windfall profits. Moving swiftly to capitalize, Pocketpair partnered with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment – tasked with expanding the franchise – while preparing a PlayStation 5 version.

The update arrives amidst ongoing legal action from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who allege "multiple" patent infringements and seek injunctions with damage compensation. Pocketpair has modified certain game mechanics – notably altering Pal summoning methods – while pledging vigorous defense in court, stating: "We will continue to assert our position through legal proceedings."
