Nintendo's Switch 2 Livestream Flooded with "DROP the PRICE" Demands
Nintendo's first post-Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Treehouse livestream has been inundated with frustrated comments from users demanding the company to "DROP THE PRICE." A quick look at the YouTube chat during the stream reveals a flood of complaints about the pricing of Nintendo's next-generation console, which includes the $449.99 Switch 2 and, most notably, the $79.99 price tag for Mario Kart World.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself will retail for $449.99, a bundle is also available with Mario Kart World included for $499.99, offering a $30 savings on the game's price.
The Treehouse live chat is experiencing the expected backlash. However, Mario Kart World isn't the only game on the Switch 2 to carry a $79.99 price; other titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also fall into this category.
Nintendo has faced criticism for charging for the Switch 2's tutorial video game, Welcome Tour, which many fans believe should be a free pack-in. For instance, Astro's Playroom comes pre-installed on every PlayStation 5, serving as a complimentary tech demo for the DualSense controller.
The Nintendo Switch 2 package includes the following:
-------------------------------------------- Nintendo Switch 2 console
- Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R)
- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
- USB-C Charging Cable
The backlash over Nintendo's pricing strategy is now spilling over into the Treehouse livestream, though the presenters have, understandably, chosen to ignore the chat. It appears that Nintendo will continue to face such criticism from the gaming community, increasing the pressure on the company to address these concerns.
