Nintendo has stepped up preparations to prevent the Switch 2 from suffering the same supply issues that plagued its predecessor's launch. Company president Shuntaro Furukawa emphasized they're drawing from past experiences to counter scalpers, stating firmly: "We are making preparations."

During a recent financial briefing, Furukawa addressed concerns about potential shortages reminiscent of the 2017 Switch launch. The executive assured investors that Nintendo has learned valuable lessons from previous hardware rollouts.

Mass Production Emerges as Key Strategy

Nintendo's primary weapon against resellers? Manufacturing consoles en masse. Company leadership continues to stress that abundant supply represents their most effective anti-scalping measure.

"Our fundamental approach hasn't changed since last year," Furukawa explained. "We believe overwhelming demand with sufficient production remains crucial."

Beyond Basic Production Measures

The gaming giant isn't stopping at just ramping up manufacturing. Furukawa revealed Nintendo is exploring additional region-specific solutions within legal boundaries to further discourage speculative buying.

Supply chain concerns that previously hampered Switch production appear resolved, with semiconductor shortages no longer posing significant obstacles for the upcoming console's manufacturing.

Switch Support Continues Amid Transition

Despite plummeting sales figures, Furukawa dismissed suggestions that consumers are holding off for the Switch 2. The executive positioned current sales as solid for an eight-year-old console while acknowledging they've fallen short of projections.

Nintendo remains committed to supporting the aging Switch platform "as long as demand persists," with major titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond still slated for 2025 releases.
