Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
As part of the NieR 15th Anniversary celebration, Square Enix unveiled a variety of announcements during their livestream on April 19. Among the highlights was the introduction of the NieR online Special Novel, titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already accessible, and the subsequent parts scheduled for release on April 25 and May 2. The narrative follows a 'servant' who encounters a mysterious boy with an enigmatic aura, guiding the story's progression.
To complement this announcement, Square Enix launched a dedicated NieR 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the online novel and other upcoming projects and events associated with the celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details regarding tickets and event specifics will be shared soon.
Music lovers can look forward to additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024, scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these events are currently available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
Fans can also anticipate a range of new merchandise, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Additionally, the NieR Weapon Story book, containing over 650 stories related to weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists, will be available.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
Starting on April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will feature a monthly developer blog throughout the year. These updates will offer insights into the development process behind Re[in]carnation. Originally released in January 2021, the game was discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The sudden launch of a developer blog for a now-closed game has sparked speculation among fans about potential sequels or remakes, though no official statements have been made.
The livestream concluded with a captivating live performance lasting over 20 minutes, featuring soundtracks from the entire NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting developments for NieR fans, with further events and merchandise announcements on the horizon.
