The upcoming Monopoly movie from Lionsgate has enlisted John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein as its screenwriters. Known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Daley and Goldstein are set to bring the iconic Hasbro board game to life on the big screen. The film will be produced by Margot Robbie under her production banner, LuckyChap.

In addition to their success with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Daley and Goldstein have also written and directed the original film Mayday. Their writing credits extend to major films such as The Flash and Spider-Man: Homecoming, showcasing their versatility and talent in the industry.

The concept of a Monopoly movie has been floating around for years, with interest dating back to 2007 when Ridley Scott expressed interest in directing it. In 2011, Scott worked with writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski on a script, but the project did not materialize. Subsequent attempts in 2015 involved Lionsgate and Hasbro teaming up with writer Andrew Niccol, and later in 2019, it was rumored that actor Kevin Hart and director Tim Story would be involved. However, none of these versions came to fruition.

The current push for the Monopoly film gained momentum following Lionsgate's acquisition of eOne from Hasbro. With fresh talent like Daley and Goldstein at the helm, fans are hopeful that this version will finally make it past Go and onto the screen.
