Microsoft Sets Xbox Games Showcase 2025 for June, Unveils Outer Worlds 2 Direct

Microsoft has officially announced its plans for June 2025, including the Xbox Games Showcase and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time, and 6pm UK Time. This event will be streamed live and will feature a variety of upcoming titles from Microsoft's first-party studios as well as exciting new games from third-party partners worldwide.

The showcase promises to provide insights into numerous anticipated titles currently in development. Microsoft's roster includes the new Fable, which has been delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile's Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband by the Just Cause developers, Rare's Everwild, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima's OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Double Fine, known for Psychonauts, is also working on a new game.

On the Activision Blizzard front, fans can look forward to a new Call of Duty game later in 2025, alongside various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, set to launch in July, might also be featured. From Bethesda, there's anticipation for updates on Starfield, particularly its PlayStation 5 release date, and perhaps a glimpse of The Elder Scrolls 6.

Additionally, there's speculation about new Xbox hardware announcements. While a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld are rumored for 2027, Microsoft might discuss third-party Xbox-branded handhelds during the showcase.

Following the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft will host The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, focusing on the sequel to the acclaimed first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. This direct will offer new gameplay, details, and developer insights. Given The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for release later in 2025, a release date announcement seems likely.
