Mario Kart Tour Adds Rare Limited-Time Track
Here's some fascinating Mario Kart trivia—did you know there's one Nintendo track exclusive to the mobile spin-off Mario Kart Tour?
The answer is Piranha Plant Pipeline, a thrilling waterslide-inspired course set inside the iconic warp pipes of the Mushroom Kingdom. Surprisingly, it never made its way to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch.
Mario Kart Tour boasts an extensive lineup of tracks, blending classics with fresh additions that later appeared in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe via the Booster Course Pass. Among them were quirky courses like Squeaky Clean Sprint (partially set in a bathroom) and Sky-High Sundae, which was swiftly integrated into Switch 2's Mario Kart World open-world map.
For reasons unknown, Piranha Plant Pipeline never joined Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Due to Tour's rotating track schedule, it's rarely available. In fact, Nintendo recently marked its return with a celebratory X/Twitter post, noting this is only the third time it's been playable—and its first appearance this year.
"Well hello Piranha Plant Pipeline," exclaimed one excited fan. "Missed you so much."
If you're curious to experience what might be Mario Kart's rarest track, act fast—it's only available until July 22nd before vanishing back into Nintendo's vault.
Will it ever reappear elsewhere? That likely hinges on Nintendo's plans for keeping Mario Kart World fresh post-launch. While fans anticipate updates for the Switch 2 hit, Nintendo remains tight-lipped about future content strategies.

So far, Nintendo's major update to Mario Kart World controversially reduced access to traditional looped courses in favor of open-world 'intermission tracks'.
Though Mario Kart Tour stopped receiving new content in 2023, it remains available on iOS and Android. Launched in 2019, the game was hugely profitable despite backlash over its discontinued gacha mechanics.
Nintendo's mobile game preservation is spotty—titles like Miitomo, Dragalia Lost, and Dr. Mario World have shut down. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp transitioned from free-to-play to premium. If Mario Kart Tour ever sunsets, Piranha Plant Pipeline could vanish forever—so don't miss your chance to race it now.
