Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand. Despite initial technical hurdles and controversy surrounding censorship, the game's sales figures highlight its continued popularity.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), this action-packed hack-and-slash title casts players as Juliet Starling, a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. While the original developers weren't involved in the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with quality-of-life improvements.

This sales milestone, achieved across current and last-gen consoles and PC, was announced by Dragami Games several months after the September 2024 launch.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumph: A Celebration of Sales

The game's narrative centers on Juliet's zombie-hunting heritage as she confronts hordes of undead at her high school. Using her trusty chainsaw, players engage in dynamic combat reminiscent of Bayonetta and other iconic third-person action games.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over a million copies. This initial popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, whose contributions shaped the game's compelling story and writing.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unconfirmed, the RePOP remaster's sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult classics. This positive trend is further evidenced by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
