High on Life 2 Delayed to February 2026

by Peyton Dec 09,2025

Developer Squanch Games has revealed a February 13, 2026, launch date for its comedic first-person shooter sequel, High on Life 2.

New plans for the sci-fi follow-up were detailed in an Xbox Wire post, which also shared fresh information about its cast, gameplay, and other features. The early 2026 release represents a slight delay from the initial target of late 2025, when the game was expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass.

Alongside the adjusted release window, it was confirmed that Ralph Ineson—known for his roles in Final Fantasy 16 and The Fantastic Four: First Steps—has joined the cast. Players will encounter him as Sheath, a new boss character. Returning cast members include Betsy Sodaro as Sweezy and J.B. Smoove as Gus, while Richard Kind (Inside Out, A Bug’s Life) will voice Senator Muppy Doo.

High on Life 2 was first announced during the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase as the follow-up to Squanch’s hit 2022 video game. The original won fans over with its talking weapons and comedic tone, quickly becoming one of the most successful Game Pass launches ever. Its popularity later led to plans for a High on Life TV series, revealed in 2024.

A key figure in the original game's cast was Justin Roiland, Rick and Morty co-creator and former Squanch CEO. Roiland stepped down from the company in January 2023, shortly after the game’s release, following allegations of domestic battery and false imprisonment. The charges were later dismissed in March of that year.

High on Life 2 is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox platforms early next year. In the meantime, the original is available again on Xbox Game Pass after returning to the service last month. You can read our 8/10 review of the base game and our 6/10 review of its DLC, High on Knife.
