Legendary Dynamax Raids Surprise-Released by Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO Leak Hints at Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno Raids

A prematurely released tweet from the official Pokemon GO Saudi Arabia Twitter account revealed upcoming Dynamax Raids featuring the Kanto legendary birds: Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. The post, quickly deleted, indicated the event will run from January 20th to February 3rd. This would mark the first appearance of legendary Dynamax Pokémon in Pokemon GO, following the introduction of Dynamax Pokémon in September 2024.

The Kanto birds' enduring popularity within the Pokemon community has led to their inclusion in various in-game events throughout Pokemon GO's history, including standard raids and, more recently, their Galarian forms in Daily Incense. The leaked information suggests another iteration of these beloved Pokémon is on the horizon.

The addition of these legendary Dynamax Pokémon could significantly boost the participation rate in Max Raids. Previously, Max Raids faced criticism due to their difficulty and the requirement of 40 players for successful completion. Whether these challenges will persist with the legendary Dynamax Raids remains uncertain. The potential for future iconic legendary Pokémon, such as Mewtwo and Ho-Oh (seen in Dynamax form in Pokemon Sword and Shield), to receive similar treatment is also suggested by this leak.

This leak arrives amidst a flurry of other Pokemon GO announcements for early 2025, including:

• Community Day Classic: Featuring Ralts on January 25th.
• Shadow Raid Day: Featuring Shadow Ho-Oh on January 19th, with up to seven free Raid Passes available.
• Pokemon GO Fest 2025: Confirmed host cities: Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris.

The unexpected revelation of the Dynamax legendary birds adds another exciting element to the already packed Pokemon GO event calendar.
