Keanu & Idris: 'Cyberpunk' Stars Hint at Live-Action Adaptation

Idris Elba envisions a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with himself and Keanu Reeves. The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty star recently expressed this desire in an interview with ScreenRant, suggesting a collaboration between his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic Johnny Silverhand would be electrifying. He stated, "If any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be Cyberpunk 2077, and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’"

This isn't just wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project is underway, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and The Witcher live-action series makes a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation seem increasingly likely.

Meanwhile, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched, focusing on Rebecca and Pilar's backstory. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025. And, excitingly, CD Projekt Red has hinted at a new Cyberpunk 2077 animated series in development.

The future of Cyberpunk looks bright, with multiple projects in the pipeline promising to further immerse fans in Night City's neon-drenched world.
