Sonic's Future Revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2025

IDW's acclaimed Sonic the Hedgehog comic series recently celebrated a significant achievement with its 75th installment. Sonic the Hedgehog #75 depicted the climactic showdown between Team Sonic and the antagonist Clutch, paving the way for the suspenseful follow-up storyline "Scattered Pieces."

The "Scattered Pieces" narrative arc unfolds across issues #76 through #80. With issue #76 now available, IGN exclusively reveals new artwork from this storyline's penultimate chapter during IGN Fan Fest. Penned by veteran writer Ian Flynn, "Scattered Pieces" showcases the talents of artist Adam Bryce Thomas on main cover and interior artwork for #79, with variant covers contributed by Tyler McGrath and Nathalie Fourdraine.

IDW's official synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog #79 teases:

The bitter rivalry between expert sniper Whisper and deadly assassin Mimic reaches its explosive conclusion!

Will former allies Tangle and Silver tip the scales? Or will Whisper face another devastating loss? This long-awaited confrontation delivers pulse-pounding action years in the making!

"Over seven successful years, IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog has developed its own rich lore with compelling characters and interwoven storylines," Flynn explains to IGN. "Evan Stanley's current arc brought many threads together. While concluding story arcs is rewarding, I'm equally excited to explore the aftermath.
