Recent updates to the Steam listing of Hollow Knight: Silksong have reignited excitement and speculation among fans. On March 24, changes were observed in the game's metadata, as reported on SteamDB. These updates included an opt-in for Hollow Knight: Silksong on GeForce Now, Nvidia's video game streaming platform, along with modified assets. Notably, the copyright on the Steam store page was updated from 2019 to 2025, hinting at a potential release year.

This flurry of activity suggests that an announcement or re-reveal could be imminent, especially with Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2. The anticipation is high, as it's been six years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced. Despite occasional updates and cryptic social media posts from Team Cherry, the development process has largely remained shrouded in mystery.

January saw a surge in speculation fueled by enigmatic posts from a Team Cherry developer on X/Twitter, leading fans to believe a re-reveal might occur during the upcoming Switch 2 Direct. Some even speculated that Silksong could launch as a timed exclusive on Nintendo's next-gen console. When originally announced, Team Cherry confirmed that Silksong would be available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, it's set to be a day-one release on Microsoft's Game Pass, following a deal between Microsoft and Team Cherry.

In June 2022, Hollow Knight: Silksong was featured in Microsoft's Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, with promises that all showcased games would be playable within the next 12 months. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay beyond the first half of 2023, with Matthew Griffin, the marketing and publishing lead, stating, "We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can."

As the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight released in 2017, Silksong carries immense expectations. It remains one of the most wishlisted games on Steam. IGN's review of the original Hollow Knight praised its compelling world of Hallownest, rich storytelling, and the vast array of secrets and challenges, underscoring the high bar set for its successor.
