GTA 6 Trailer 2: PS5 and Xbox Release Dates Confirmed, No PC Mention

by Carter Jun 14,2025

With the release of the *Grand Theft Auto VI* Trailer 2 and a major update to its official website, all attention has turned to the platforms that will host the game upon its launch on May 26, 2026. At the conclusion of the trailer, the confirmed release date appears alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S logos, reaffirming that these consoles will be the initial home for GTA 6. Additionally, it’s noted that the trailer footage was captured on a PS5, further emphasizing Sony’s platform as the primary focus.

What Does This Mean for PC and Nintendo Switch 2?

Many fans had speculated—some even hoped—that the delay of *GTA 6* to May 2026 might prompt Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive to reconsider their platform strategy and potentially launch the game simultaneously on PC. However, the absence of any mention of PC in the latest promotional material suggests this may not be the case.

This aligns with Rockstar's historical pattern of launching titles first on console before bringing them to PC, but in today’s gaming landscape—especially in 2025 and heading into 2026—it feels increasingly out of step. Given the growing influence of PC as a vital platform for multiplatform game success, could this be a missed opportunity for one of the most anticipated games in recent memory?

Take-Two CEO Hints at Future PC Release

IGN posed this question directly to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during an interview in February. While he didn’t confirm a simultaneous PC release, he did hint that *GTA 6* would eventually make its way to PC.

“With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

This mirrors Rockstar’s past approach with major titles like *Red Dead Redemption 2* and *Grand Theft Auto V*, which eventually saw successful PC releases months or even years after their console debuts. Yet, given the scale and cultural impact of *GTA 6*, many PC gamers are left wondering when exactly they’ll get to experience the game natively.

How Long Will PC Gamers Have to Wait?

If not May 2026, then when? Fans are speculating possible timelines: Fall 2026? Early 2027? Or perhaps as far out as May 2027? The wait could be long, but history shows Rockstar is willing to bring its blockbusters to PC eventually.

In December 2023, a former Rockstar developer attempted to explain why *GTA 6* would come to PC after its console launch, urging fans to give the studio the “benefit of the doubt” regarding its platform strategy.

Is Skipping PC a Missed Opportunity?

Zelnick himself acknowledged the importance of PC in modern gaming, stating that PC versions of multiplatform titles can account for up to 40% of total sales—or more in some cases. In light of this, skipping a day-one PC release could mean missing out on a significant portion of potential players and revenue.

“We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue,”

he added, hinting that future Rockstar strategies may evolve alongside shifting market dynamics.

What About Nintendo Switch 2?

As expected, there was no mention of the Nintendo Switch 2 in Trailer 2. While the capabilities of Nintendo’s next console remain under wraps, it’s reportedly powerful enough to run *Cyberpunk 2077*. That led some to hope that *GTA 6*, which is still listed as coming to the less powerful Xbox Series S, could also find its way to Nintendo’s upcoming hardware. For now, however, such speculation remains just that.
