GTA 6 on PC Unconfirmed, But Take-Two Shows Interest

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

While GTA 6 has not been officially announced for PC, hints from Take-Two Interactive suggest that fans may see it on their computers eventually. In a recent interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the company's approach to platform releases. He noted that while their upcoming title Civilization 7 will launch on both console and PC, other games often follow a staggered release schedule.

Zelnick's comments align with Rockstar Games' historical release patterns. For instance, GTA 5 was initially released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with a PC release following in November 2019.

Although no specific confirmation has been given for GTA 6 on PC, Zelnick's statements imply a strong likelihood of a future PC release, consistent with Rockstar's strategy for major titles. Many fans hoped GTA 6 would be an exception with a simultaneous PC launch, but it appears they may have to wait.

Zelnick also highlighted the growing significance of the PC market, stating that PC versions of multiplatform games can account for up to 40% of total sales. He believes this trend will continue, reflecting a shift in the gaming industry.

Despite declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick remains optimistic about GTA 6's performance across all platforms. He emphasized that major game releases historically boost console sales, predicting a significant increase in 2025 due to a strong release schedule from various publishers, including Take-Two.

He stated, "When you have a big title in the market... that has sold consoles." Zelnick's confidence underscores the expected impact of GTA 6 on the gaming market, with a potential PC release further expanding its reach.

GTA 6 is slated for release in Fall 2025, but no specific date has been announced. For the latest updates, keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.

In a recent Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick expressed interest in bringing more Take-Two and Rockstar Games titles to the upcoming Switch 2 console. He highlighted the company's long-standing relationship with Nintendo and their willingness to support the platform when it aligns with their release strategy.

Zelnick noted a shift in Nintendo's audience, stating, "the Switch device can support any audience." This change in perspective opens up new possibilities for Take-Two's games on the Switch 2. With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch, Zelnick added, "So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."

These developments indicate a broader strategy for Take-Two and Rockstar Games to expand their reach across various platforms, including potential future releases like GTA 6 on PC and other titles on the Switch 2.
