GTA 5 Enhanced Edition Gets Lowest Steam Ratings

by Peyton Dec 21,2025

Rockstar's enhanced edition of Grand Theft Auto V has received a lukewarm reception on Steam since its March launch.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition, released March 4th, currently holds a 'Mixed' rating on Steam with only 54% of its 19,772 user reviews being positive. This marks a significant drop from the original GTA V's 'Very Positive' rating before Rockstar removed it from Steam search results.

In fact, the Enhanced Edition now holds the dubious distinction of being the worst-rated GTA title on Steam, with even Grand Theft Auto III - The Definitive Edition faring better at 66% positive reviews.

This free PC upgrade was meant to bring features previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online - including HSW performance upgrades, wildlife encounters, and GTA+ membership access - along with graphical improvements and faster load times. The version supports full progression transfer from both Story Mode and Online.

However, numerous players report issues with account migration - the most common complaint in negative reviews. "Getting an error that my Online profile isn't eligible for migration after 700 hours of gameplay? If they think I'm restarting from scratch, they can forget it," wrote one frustrated player. Many echo this sentiment, criticizing both the migration problems and what they view as minimal improvements.

Despite these issues, GTA V Enhanced remains one of Steam's top-played games with 187,059 peak concurrent players. But the rocky launch has raised concerns about Rockstar's PC strategy, particularly regarding the eventual Grand Theft Auto VI release.
