This accolade, playfully dubbed the "Golden Thunk" award, highlights the captivating gameplay and stylish secrets within Animal Well, praising solo developer Billy Basso's "true masterpiece." Balatro, itself a critical and commercial triumph selling over 3.5 million copies, shares a kinship with Animal Well as a fellow indie hit of 2024.
