FromSoftware's Remastering Rumors Intensify
For years, Bloodborne fans have eagerly awaited a remastered version of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this anticipation, igniting a fresh wave of speculation.
Instagram Posts Reignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically lauded RPG released in 2015, holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers. The desire to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on modern consoles is widespread. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram pages featuring the game have sparked renewed excitement.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image featured Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others depicted the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the Charnel Lane graveyards.
Although these posts might simply be a nostalgic throwback, dedicated Bloodborne players on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for clues hinting at a remaster. The timing, especially considering a similar post by PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has left many feeling teased.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting a chorus of comments expressing a desire for a Yharnam return on modern platforms or PC.
The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues—Nearly a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a fiercely loyal fanbase, praised as one of gaming's greatest achievements. Yet, neither a sequel nor a remaster has materialized.
Fans point to the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, this hope is tempered by concerns about the potential wait. The decade-long gap for the Demon's Souls remake fuels fears of a similar delay for Bloodborne, especially as its tenth anniversary approaches.
Fueling the speculation further, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki, in a February Eurogamer interview, acknowledged the advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware, highlighting improved accessibility for a wider audience.
Despite Miyazaki's encouraging comments, the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's rights remain with Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated in interviews with IGN that he cannot comment on Bloodborne's future due to FromSoftware's lack of IP ownership.
Bloodborne's passionate community continues to yearn for a remake or remaster. Despite critical acclaim and strong sales, its availability remains limited to the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality only time will tell.
