Fortnite Debuts Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld 2 Days Before Disney+

Fans eager to dive into the first episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will need to enter the world of Fortnite to catch the series premiere before it hits Disney+. Epic Games has announced an exciting expansion of its Star Wars universe within the game, revealing that the first two episodes of this eagerly awaited animated spinoff will debut exclusively on Fortnite. This move is part of the studio's strategy to enhance its Star Wars content during the upcoming Galactic Battle season, which promises a plethora of Star Wars-themed rewards and experiences.

Starting at 10 a.m. ET on May 2, fans can experience the kickoff of Tales of the Underworld with its first two episodes, centered around the character Asajj Ventress, on the Star Wars Watch Party island. This exclusive premiere will happen two days before the series becomes available to Disney+ subscribers. Epic Games is also encouraging fans to connect their Epic Games and MyDisney accounts, rewarding eligible players with a First Order Stormtrooper outfit. While the full scope of benefits from this linkage remains a mystery, Epic Games hints at more to come.

Viewers will have until May 11 to catch both episodes of Tales of the Underworld on the Star Wars Watch Party island, which will also feature a Battle Arena where players can engage in combat using lightsabers against waves of enemies. Those who watch both episodes will be rewarded with an Asajj Ventress loading screen.

Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is a six-episode series, animated in the style of The Clone Wars, that follows the adventures of Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. The official synopsis hints at Ventress finding a new chance at life and a new ally, while Bane is forced to confront his past.

Disney's collaboration with Fortnite extends well beyond the upcoming Galactic Battle season. In March 2024, Disney acquired a $1.5 billion stake in Epic, setting the stage for long-term partnerships. This investment not only promises more collaborations but also introduces additional Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar outfits into the popular battle royale game. Notable additions for the next season include Darth Jar Jar and Emperor Palpatine.

Since its launch in 2017, Fortnite has continued to dominate the gaming space. Recent collaborations, such as the one with Sabrina Carpenter, have helped maintain its prominence, encouraging players to put down the pickaxes and put on their dancing shoes.
