FCC Filing Hints at Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Upgrade
It's the day before the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and the excitement is palpable as we're just hours away from learning more about Nintendo's next console. Amidst the buzz, a recent Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing has caught the attention of fans and enthusiasts, hinting at possible developments in the Switch 2 controller lineup.
As reported on platforms like Famiboards and echoed across Nintendo-focused sites such as GoNintendo, an intriguing FCC filing surfaced on March 31, under the product code "BEE-008." This filing appears to be related to a new game controller, with some enthusiasts speculating it could be the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.
It's important to note that these are speculations, as Nintendo has yet to officially confirm the existence of a Switch 2 Pro Controller. However, the mention of Bluetooth and NFC capabilities in the filing lends credence to the idea that this might indeed be a Pro Controller, given these are features often associated with premium controllers.
One of the most exciting aspects of this potential Switch 2 Pro Controller, if the filing pertains to it, is the inclusion of a headphone jack. Unlike the original Switch Pro Controller, which lacked this feature, the addition of a headphone jack would align the Switch 2 Pro Controller with modern controllers like the DualSense and Xbox Series controllers, enhancing the user experience.
While past Nintendo filings have occasionally foreshadowed the company's future moves, we remain in the realm of speculation until official announcements are made. With the Switch 2 Direct set to air tomorrow at 6am PT / 9am ET on Nintendo's channels, we're poised to get a "closer look" at the Switch 2 and hopefully receive concrete information about its release date and features.
Nintendo has scheduled the Switch 2 Direct to last for an hour, with additional Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 sessions featuring hands-on gameplay slated for April 3 and April 4, starting at 7am PT each day. These events promise to provide an in-depth look at what the Switch 2 has to offer, and with any luck, we'll see the unveiling of the speculated Switch 2 Pro Controller and its features, including that coveted headphone jack.
