During the new Escape from Tarkov wipe developers will show New Year special

Escape from Tarkov's wipe, originally planned for before the New Year to coincide with a simplified Kappa container quest, now has a confirmed release time: December 26th at 7:00 AM GMT / 2:00 AM EST. Following maintenance (estimated 8 hours, though past updates have taken longer), the game will update to version 0.16.0.0 (Tarkov Arena to 0.2.5.0).

Battlestate Games will counter the downtime with a New Year's Special Twitch stream at 4:00 PM GMT / 11:00 AM EST. Details remain under wraps, but players can anticipate additional content.

What's in Update 0.16.0.0?

Version 0.16.0.0 reinforces that the full game release remains on the horizon, likely sometime in 2025. However, significant updates are anticipated:

• Unity 2022 Engine Transition: A long-awaited upgrade, though its full implementation might not be immediate.
• Weapon Recoil System Overhaul: A major gameplay change potentially impacting player success significantly.
• New Weaponry: The RPG-26 is a likely addition.
• Customs Map Rework: Expect substantial alterations to this popular map.
• Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements: While these are welcome, the engine upgrade could introduce unforeseen issues.

The extent of these changes will be revealed upon the update's release.
