Epic Game Store Gives Away Hit Game for Free

Escape Academy is the Epic Games Store's free game offering for January 16th, 2025. This escape-room style puzzle game is the fourth free title offered by the EGS in 2025 and, based on its OpenCritic score, is currently the highest-rated free game offered this year.

Epic Games Store users have a full week, until January 23rd, to claim Escape Academy. Developed by Coin Crew Games, this title, originally launched in July 2022 for PC and consoles, challenges players to train as "escape room masters" within the game's academy setting.

This isn't Escape Academy's first appearance as a free EGS game; it was previously offered on January 1st, 2024. However, this giveaway marks the first time it's available for a full week. The timing is particularly beneficial for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as Escape Academy is leaving the service on January 15th after an 18-month run.

The game features a well-regarded online and split-screen multiplayer mode in addition to its solo play option.

The announcement of the fifth free game is anticipated on January 16th, coinciding with Escape Academy's availability.
