Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update

by Claire May 20,2025

Star Wars Celebration has unveiled thrilling new details about the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to launch alongside the new movie. The update, arriving on May 22, 2026, promises a unique narrative path distinct from the movie, yet deeply integrated with Din Djarin and Grogu. Guests will embark on an exhilarating choose-your-own-adventure-style journey, visiting iconic planets like Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and the newly added Coruscant. A key highlight is the expanded role of Engineers, who will now have the responsibility of caring for Grogu during the mission.

The storyline kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka discovering a shady deal on Tatooine involving ex-Imperial officers and pirates. This sets the stage for a high-stakes chase across the galaxy, where guests will team up with Mando and Grogu to track down the culprits and claim a bounty. This dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure is poised to offer an immersive experience like never before.

While full details are yet to be revealed, the expanded role of the Engineer, tasked with caring for Grogu, is a particularly exciting aspect of this update. Imagine the joy of interacting with this beloved character throughout the mission!

In an exclusive interview with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, we learned more about what to expect. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. So, we love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."

Kalama also shed light on the choose-your-own-adventure aspect of the update, saying, "There will be a sort of critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. And that's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."
