A Decade in the Making

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, marked by significant delays spanning nearly a decade. Development began in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, but was impacted by BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, diverting resources and talent. The initial design, codenamed "Joplin," didn't align with the company's live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.

In 2018, the project was revived under the codename "Morrison." Formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, it later received its current title.
