New Characters, Events Hit 'Squid Game: Unleashed' for Season 2

Squid Game: Unleashed is getting a major content drop to celebrate the arrival of season two! New characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges are all part of the update. Plus, you can earn exclusive rewards just by watching the new episodes!

Netflix's surprise holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed – a free-to-play battle royale experience – was a bold move. Now, with this season two-themed content update, they're cleverly incentivizing both subscribers and non-subscribers to engage with the show.

What's in store for players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the "Mingle" mini-game from Squid Game season two will launch. Three new playable characters – Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos – will also debut throughout January.

Geum-Ja and Thanos will have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. And for those watching the show, there are extra rewards! Watching Squid Game season two episodes earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching seven episodes unlocks the exclusive "Binni Binge-Watcher" outfit!

Here's the January content roadmap for Squid Game: Unleashed:

• January 3rd: New "Mingle" map and Geum-Ja character unlock event (Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event, runs until the 9th). Complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
• January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event ("Thanos’ Red Light Challenge," runs until the 14th). Eliminate players using knives to unlock him.
• January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final new character in this wave.

Squid Game: Unleashed is proving to be a significant step for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a bold move, but rewarding subscribers while simultaneously driving viewership of the show is a shrewd strategy, creating a synergistic relationship between the game and the series.
