"Capcom Revives Beloved RPG Breath of Fire IV on PC After 25 Years"

by Aurora May 24,2025

Breath of Fire IV, a cherished classic from Capcom, has made a triumphant return to PC gaming, 25 years after its initial debut. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe the following year, the game saw a PC release in Europe and Japan in 2003. Now, thanks to GOG's Preservation Program, fans can enjoy a fully updated version optimized for modern PCs, available DRM-free on the platform.

The game follows the journey of Ryu, a protagonist distinct from Capcom's other famous Ryu, who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions and save the world.
