Argentine indie studio Matajuegos has launched its mesmerizing documentary game Atuel on Android and PC via Steam. Originally released on itch.io in September 2022, Atuel captivated audiences with its dreamlike storytelling, experimental gameplay, and striking visuals.

The game has earned prestigious recognition, including the Innovation in Experience Design Award at IndieCade 2022. It has also been showcased at global festivals and art exhibitions, such as the Marché du Film at Cannes and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

What Makes Atuel Unique?

Atuel explores the profound connection between people and nature in western Argentina’s Cuyo desert region. It weaves together real-life narratives with surreal, interactive gameplay.

Players traverse expansive landscapes inspired by the Atuel River Valley and Cuyo desert, transforming into animals, ecological elements, and even the river itself.
